Shoot First, Judge Later

Is Quality over Quantity Good?

Hey Reader,

We’ve all heard quality over quantity.

But when it comes to photography (and content creating)

Quantity leads to quality.

Think about it.

The photographer who takes 10,000 photos isn’t just more likely to capture that one perfect photo

They also have 9,999 opportunities to learn.

Every out of focus shot, every odd composition, every exposure that didn’t quite hit the mark teaches something.

It can be the biggest mistake a photographer can make

Hesitation.

They overthink every shot, waiting for the perfect moment, the perfect light, the perfect subject.

But the best photographers

The ones who consistently create great work, aren’t waiting.

They’re out there taking photos.

A lot.

Shoot More, Worry Less

The more you shoot, the more patterns you start to recognise.

You begin to understand light instinctively.

Your compositions become second nature.

Editing feels less like fixing mistakes and more like refining a vision.

The photographers who improve the fastest aren’t the ones taking a handful of “carefully considered” images.

Yes they have their place.

But the ones out there, day after day, capturing everything they can, learning as they go.

Improve the most.

Some shots won’t be great.

That’s the point.

Shoot first, judge later.

Because the more photos you take, the better you get at seeing what works, and what doesn’t.

And over time, without even realising it, you’ll start creating the kind of images you once thought were out of reach.

Because the only way to find the diamond in the rough… is to keep digging 💎

I hope this helped or inspired you. Let’s keep growing and improving together 🎨

Lets Start Getting Ahead Hey Reader, Before next week gets ahead of us I want you to pause and look back at the last 7 days. How much of that time actually felt intentional? And I’m not talking about hustle for the sake of hustle. I’m talking about time that moved the needle for you. So what does that look like? For me, it’s knowing I spent time behind the lens (not just behind a screen). It’s showing up for the people I love, present, not just “around.” And it’s being able to look back and...

Why is photography so different? Hey Reader, It took me over 10 years to realise what truly sets photography apart from other creative mediums like painting or music. Think about how a painter works They start with a blank canvas, nothing but white space. From there, they add elements, colour, shapes, and details Until they create a finished piece. Music works in a similar way. You begin with silence and add notes, layers, and instruments to build a composition. But photography? It’s the...

Let’s cut your post production by 90% Hey Reader, When I first started taking photography seriously, I’d come home from taking photos with hundreds of photos… and no idea where to start. Importing, sorting, editing, exporting, it all took way longer than it should’ve. Eventually, I realised: the problem wasn’t my editing. It was my lack of workflow. So I built a simple 5-step system that now saves me hours every week — and actually makes the process fun again: 1. Start with a clean system...
